Join a Committee

If you would be interested in serving on the board, as committee chair or on a committee please contact email centralmoafp@gmail.com with your information and a board member will be in touch with you. Currently, you will notice that there are some committeess that are new. Our AFP Central Missouri Chapter has doubled in size in the last two years and is still growing. Our current board feels as we grow these are positions that will need to be filled to help us to continue to make a positive impact in our community of fundraisiers. We would like to thank you for considering a position with AFP Central Missouri Chapter. Please see roles and descriptions below. 

 

AFP Central Missouri Chapter

Board of Director Job Descriptions

President

  • Preside at chapter, business and board meetings
  • Establish annual goals and set vision for chapter utilizing AFP Strategic Plan
  • Represent chapter at local, regional and national events, in person or through media channels
  • Communicate with AFP International Headquarters as needed 
  • Serve on nominating committee
  • Complete, on time, annual chapter Accord Report to IHQ (with help of Past President)
  • Primary public figure for organization
  • Meet monthly with President Elect to address chapter needs and issues
  • Oversee NPD committee

Committee Chair Under President:

  National Philanthropy Day Committee

  • Chair serves on the board, participate in chapter meetings and board meetings, providing advice and input
  • Chair puts together a committee for NPD
  • Chair and committee obtains a speaker and location for NPD Event
  • Chair and committee obtain sponsors for NPD Event
  • Chair and committee accept nominations for those areas being awarded
  • Chair will track all monies and registrations for bookkeeping
  • Chair and committee will organize all aspects of event. (Master of ceremonies, photographer, catering and decorations, registration, etc.)

 

President Elect 

  • Serve on the board, participate in chapter meetings and board meetings, providing advice and input
  • Assist President as needed, assume duties of president in his/her absence
  • Assist with program as needed
  • Serve on nominating committee
  • Meet monthly with President to address chapter needs and issues

 

Treasurer

  • Serve on the board, participate in chapter meetings and board meetings, providing advice and input
  • Maintain financial records, bank account and checkbook. Write checks as needed
  • File Electronic Form 990-N
  • Provide annual financial report for IHQ accord report
  • Audit (Provide material)
  • Oversee creation of fiscal processes as needed
  • Have access and maintain PayPal
  • Oversee Audit Committee 

Committee Chair Under Treasurer:

Audit Committee - Currently, this is a wish list item that we would like to incorporate and build a new role.

 

Secretary

  • Serve on the board, participate in chapter meetings and board meetings, providing advice and input
  • Prepare and distribute minutes of board meetings in a timely manner
  • Prepare chapter correspondence and mailings as needed
  • Maintain email list with Membership Chair
  • Manage chapter membership list with Membership Chair
  • Track RSVPs, record event attendance and track numbers for IHQ annual report
  • Maintain chapter files and historical records
  • Interview for Member Spotlights

 

VP Program

  • Serve on the board, participate in chapter meetings and board meetings, providing advice and input
  • Fill program schedule for chapter meetings, recruit and coordinate meeting speakers, fulfill AV needs
  • Utilize national manual for program ideas including webinars when appropriate
  • Maintain notes on chapter programs (title, speakers, attendance, members vs non-members, general feedback) for IHQ Accord Report
  • Provide meeting information for invitations including write-ups
  • Send a thank you letter and gift to speakers
  • Oversee Government Relations/Public Policy Committee

Committee Chair Under VP Programs:

Government Relations/Public Policy Committee  – Currently, this is a wish list item that we would like to incorporate and build a new role.

 

 

VP Membership

  • Serve on the board, participate in chapter meetings and board meetings, providing advice and input
  • Help with registration table, greeting everyone and providing info about membership as needed (Form a small committee of volunteers to do this)
  • Put together a simple membership plan for recruitment and retention, including an annual membership drive to send with IHQ Accord report.
  • Be the Membership contact for AFP and receive emails
  • Maintain email list with Secretary
  • Manage chapter membership list with Secretary
  • Create a new member welcome program/plan
  • Mail a welcome packet to all new members containing a welcome letter from current chapter president, current meeting list for the year and an AFP Ethics short form.
  • Give a Year end Meeting report to all members to allow them to track for CEC
  • Promote meetings, job opportunities, grants, coffee networking hours and other events to members and other through email and other communication methods
  • Access AFP Google Analytics and Constant Contact reports to track website traffic and clicks.
  • Secure a host and schedule for Coffee Networking Hour
  • Create “Pay Buttons” and EventSpot landing pages for registration for meetings and events through PayPal and Constant Contact
  • Transfer monies from PayPal to AFP Chapter account
  • Oversee membership committees

Committee Chairs Under VP Membership:

Marketing Committee

  • Chair serves on the board, participate in chapter meetings and board meetings, providing advice and input
  • Committee promotes meetings, job opportunities, grants, coffee networking hours and other events to members and other through email and other communication methods
  • Committee is responsible for Website Updates
    • New meeting information on Event Calendar and Programs Pages
    • Board Updates & Bios
    • Job opportunities on Chapter Job Center as well as any paid ads on pages of AFP Central Missouri Chapter webpage.
    • National Philanthropy Day
    • Upcoming Meetings List
    • Member List
    • Access AFP Google Analytics and Constant Contact reports to track website traffic and clicks.
    • Attempt to update Facebook page a couple times a week
    • Secure a host and schedule for Coffee Networking Hour
    • Get locations for meetings and other needed items (mic, projector, etc)
    • Gifts for speakers (AFP logo – AFP has a website with gift items)
    • Work with Program chair for news releases for each meeting

Mentor Committee

  • Committee monitors all applications for Mentor and Mentee applicants
  • Committee will put Mentor and Mentee together based on Mentor experience and Mentee need.
  • Committee re-evaluates with Mentor and Mentee at the end of 6-month pierod.

Member Spotlight Chair

  • Interview member of the month, using approved questions provided by board President.
  • Interview must be submitted for review and edits by the 15th of the month prior to its postdate (Example – If a spotlight is set for the month of February it must be submitted to President and Membership Chair by January 15th.
  • Membership or Marketing chair will update interview to website on the first of every month.

Donor Growth Committee – Currently, this is a wish list item that we would like to incorporate and build a new role.

Donor Retention Committee – Currently, this is a wish list item that we would like to incorporate and build a new role.

Diversity Committee – Currently, this is a wish list item that we would like to incorporate and build a new role.

Certification Committee – Currently, this is a wish list item that we would like to incorporate and build a new role.

 

 

Past President

  • Serve on the board, participate in chapter meetings and board meetings, providing advice and input
  • Chair nominating committee
  • Be available to help other committee chairs as needed.
